July 26, 2025 - Premier League Summer SEries

The second edition of the Premier League Summer Series kicked off with a doubleheader at MetLife Stadium in the New Jersey Meadowlands. AFC Bournemouth and Everton FC meet in the opening match while Manchester United and West Ham United faced off in the nightcap. Bournemouth used three second-half goals to topple Everton while Man U’s Bruno Fernandes dropped a brace as part of a 2-1 win over the Hammers.

Everton had the better of the early chances, particularly through Iliman Ndiaye and Beto, but couldn’t find the breakthrough. After a goalless first half in the opener, the Cherries found their rhythm in the second, scoring all three goals within 14 minutes to take control of the match. The tide shifted when Philip Billing broke the deadlock in the 55th minute with a powerful strike from outside the area. Dango Ouattara doubled the lead with a low finish from a tight angle, and Daniel Adu-Adjei sealed the result in the 69th minute by capitalizing on an Everton defensive lapse.

Fernandes proved decisive in match two, scoring in each half. The United skipper converted a penalty in the fifth minute to go ahead, 1-0. Less than 10 minutes into the second, Fernandes fired a shot that opposing goalkeeper Alphonse Areola could not stop. West Ham responded at the hour mark, as Jarrod Bowen—assisted by Niclas Füllkrug—found the net to bring his side back within one. It wasn’t enough as the Red Devils held on to win.

At the end of the day, the Cherries led the four-team table thanks to a superior goal difference compared to Man United. The Mancunians later defeated West Ham in rainy Chicago before drawing Everton in Atlanta to finish with seven points and the Premier League Summer Series trophy.

The Series featured several summer signings, such as goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic and fullback Adrien Truffert of Bournemouth while Everton introduced recent addition Thierno Barry in the second half of their match. West Ham’s El Hadji Malick Diouf an Manchester United’s Matheus Cuhna saw action.
