August 2, 2025 - Philadelphia Union vs. Eintracht Frankfurt (Club Friendly)

In a clash of top-tier sides from opposite ends of the Atlantic, MLS Supporters’ Shield leaders Philadelphia Union and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt played to a spirited 2–2 draw on Saturday evening at Subaru Park. With both clubs deep into their respective preparations—Frankfurt ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign after a third-place league finish and UEFA Champions League qualification at the end of the 2024-25 season, and Philadelphia maintaining their place atop the MLS Eastern Conference with 50 points—the friendly offered a competitive test

The visitors struck early, as Jonathan Burkardt capitalized on a set piece from Algerian international Farès Chaïbi in just the third minute to take the lead. Philadelphia responded just before the break in a similar fashion, with Uruguayan forward Bruno Damiani heading home the equalizer to send the teams level into halftime.

At the hour mark, Chaïbi found Elye Wahi on an Eintracht counter, who scored the German side’s second of the night. However, the Union found another response, drawing level once more midway through the second half after Chris Donovan broke through in transition, confirming the 2-2 stalemate.

The match saw Frankfurt attacking midfielder Paxten Aaronson return to Chester following his 2023 move to Germany. Aaronson, who began his career in the Union academy system, entered at the start of the second half and was active in the attack, helping generate opportunities while Frankfurt were ahead. German-born USMNT internationals Timothy Chandler and Marvin Dills (U-18 MNT) also saw minutes in the second half.
