October 2, 2026 - Colombia vs. Paraguay (Men’s International Friendly)
Ronny with a group of Paraguay supporters following their 1-0 win over Colombia.
With the 2026 World Cup now behind them, Colombia and Paraguay met at Sports Illustrated Stadium in New Jersey as both nations began looking ahead to the next World Cup cycle. Both sides reached the Round of 16 this summer, making this friendly an opportunity to experiment with their squads and build toward 2030.
It was a competitive, physical match, although neither side really found much rhythm going forward. Colombia enjoyed more possession but struggled to make the most of its opportunities against a well-organized Paraguay side. Hugo Benítez broke the deadlock in the 56th minute, scoring on his international debut after capitalizing on a rebound. Colombia continued pushing for an equalizer, but Paraguay remained disciplined defensively and held on for the 1-0 win.
Ultimately, it was a frustrating night for Colombia, while Paraguay came away with another positive result as both teams continue their preparations for the next cycle. Also, shouts to the Paraguayan fans who made the experience hospitable!
