July 29, 2026 - Liverpool FC vs. Wrexham AFC (Club Friendly)

In the Misfits’ first match following the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Liverpool beat Wrexham 1–0 in a preseason friendly at Yankee Stadium, with more than 42,000 fans in attendance. The game was pretty even for most of the night, with both teams having chances but neither able to score in the first half. Liverpool went with a younger lineup as several of their regular players were still getting back to full fitness, while Wrexham put together a strong performance against Premier League opposition and looked dangerous at times.

The only goal came in the 75th minute when 17-year-old Liverpool substitute Rio Ngumoha scored after his shot took a deflection and looped over Wrexham goalkeeper Danny Ward. Wrexham had a few chances to tie the game late, but Liverpool managed to hold on for the win.

The result gave Liverpool another solid preseason workout in the States following their win over Sunderland in Nashville. Coming off their win over Leeds United the weekend prior, Wrexham once again got the chance to test themselves against Premier League opposition. With a big crowd in the Bronx, it was also a good showcase for both clubs as they continued their preparations for the new season.
